There are three different types of admission to our school -
Nursery Admissions
Thorley Hill has one intake into its Nursery class, which is the September following a child’s third birthday.
Entry into the Nursery class in September 2026 will be for those children born between
1st September 2022 and 31st August 2023.
Thorley Hill Primary School and Nursery offers 15 hours Free Early Education from 8.40am – 11.40am daily. We have 26 spaces available for Nursery provision. We work in partnership with Sunflowers Pre-School, who provide Pre-School Nursery in the afternoon from 11:40am - 3.00pm. The entire provision is based in the same, purpose built building on site so that the children have a seamless transition from one provider to the next.
Allocation of a Nursery place at the school is strictly subject to the applicant’s guarantee that the first 15 hours of Free Childcare Funding will be directed to the school. The remaining 15 hours may be used as required with Sunflowers Pre-School.
Please note - Sunflowers Pre-School is operated independently of the school and parents will need to apply separately for a place with their provision.

Visiting our school
If you would like to visit our Early Years setting, please ring 01279 654496 to book a slot. Meetings are for parents/carers only, no children to attend please.

Reception Admissions
Pupils start in Reception in the September following their fourth birthday (for pupils who turn 5 during the academic year). Date of birth is therefore between 1st September 2021 and 31st August 2022.
Thorley Hill will have one intake for Reception in September 2026.

We have an intake of 30 children per class from Reception to Year 6.

After Allocation Day (10 April 2026)
During the summer term, following pupil allocations, you will receive information from the school about the information that we need. You will also receive an invitation for your child to spend some time with their new class teacher in their class in July.
