How will you help me to support my child’s learning?

At Thorley Hill Primary, we value communication and the sharing of ideas and information between home and school. There are regular opportunities to discuss your child’s progress and how you can best support them at home. Formal parent/carers’ consultation meetings take place in the Autumn and Spring terms, with a final Open Evening in the Summer Term to view your child’s current progress and achievements.

Our InCo will also be available at these meetings if you would like to discuss your child’s strengths and needs with her and explore further ways in which you can support your child’s learning.

In addition to the formal meetings, you will be invited to a variety of parental workshops to enable a fuller understanding of how the particular area of the curriculum is explored and developed in school and how your child can be further supported at home.

The Learners Community Library, based at the Herts & Essex Hospital is a great facility which is able to offer advice to professionals and parents/carers as well as a substantial range of quality resources to support many areas of learning. Parents/Carers and professionals can become members of the library for a small annual fee. Members are able to borrow resources and access their expertise. For more information about the Learners’ Community Library, please see their website.
